Description
English: Em 18 de novembro de 2011 foi sancionada a Lei federal nº 12.527, que regula o acesso a informações e dispõe sobre os procedimentos a serem observados pela União, Estados, Distrito Federal e Municípios. No âmbito do Poder Executivo Estadual, a Lei foi regulamentada pelo Decreto nº 58.052, publicado em 16 de maio de 2012, mesma data em que a lei entrou em vigor.

A "Lei de Acesso à Informação” (LAI) regulamenta dispositivos constitucionais, especialmente o art. 5º, inciso XXXIII da Constituição Federal, o qual prevê que “Todos têm direito a receber dos órgãos públicos informações de seu interesse particular, ou de interesse coletivo ou geral, que serão prestadas no prazo da lei, sob pena de responsabilidade, ressalvadas aquelas cujo sigilo seja imprescindível à segurança da sociedade e do Estado”.
