Title
Collins Building, ca. 1905
Description

Transcribed from photograph: "Public Library. 1894-1894. Second home of Seattle Public Library. Collins Building. Second Ave. and James St."

Seattle Public Library dated this ca. 1894, probably on the mistake assumption that the picture was taken while the Library was based in this building. It can't be before 1898 because at right Bartell Drugs already has its (second) location at 506 2nd Avenue. File:Collins Building, ca. 1905 - DPLA - e5dd2c8c21fb2f7a4eb01c7d453b6e33.jpg is a different crop of the same photo, which the same library dated ca. 1905. At https://digitalcollections.lib.washington.edu/digital/collection/imlsmohai/id/1198, MOHAI also says ca. 1905. So the title and date here are adjusted to the "ca. 1905" date, though that is still not a firm date. (Also, if it is correctly Webster & Stevens it can't be before 1902.)
