Summary[edit]

Description
English: Plastic outlet for a condensing natural gas hot air furnace. The furnace has a second heat exchanger to recover the latent heat of the water vapor in the exhaust gases. The gases are then cool enough to vent through plastic pipe. Not all the water vapor is condensed; some freezes at the outlet. This vent contains a coaxial combustion air inlet pipe. Blowing snow can block the pipe, but the furnace control can detect this condition and prevent the burner from starting. Taken on a mild January day in Winnipeg, though the temperature had hit -30 C the previous week.
