| Description |
English: Cottages in Chipping Warden Excellent example of a row of stone and thatched cottages, on the eastern approach to Chipping Warden. These cottages are part of the Chipping Warden Manor Estate and may have been used as farm hand accomodation. They are now occupied by private tenants. Cottage No.3 at the far end is a single storey 3 bedroom cottage. Cottage No.2 is the largest of the three with 3 large bedrooms. Cottage No.1 in the foreground is a two storey 2 bedroom cottage. All cottages retain many of their orginal features including fireplaces and stone walls and exposed beams. However some modernisation has occured in places. There is a communal passage leading to gardens housing several sheds which at one time contained the outside toilet for the cottages and laundry. The old copperpot is still in place as is a gulley for waste run off in the floor. |
