Description
Nederlands: Bij het blussen van branden vanuit de lucht zet de luchtmacht Cougar- en Chinook-transporthelikopters in. Als de helikopter op de plek van de brand is, bevestigt het Mobile Air Operations Team van Defensie een bambi bucket onder de helikopter. Na het opstijgen klapt deze waterzak als een omgekeerde paraplu open. Om tijd te besparen gebeurt het vullen zo dicht mogelijk bij de brand. Dit kan overal (zelfs in een zwembad), zolang het water minimaal 2 meter diep is. Met een vernevelaar, een soort douchekop onder de bambi bucket, is het mogelijk een groter gebied in een keer te besproeien. De Cougar vervoert maximaal 2.500 liter, de Chinook 10.000 liter.
