Summary[edit]
DescriptionCresswell Pond Nature Reserve - geograph.org.uk - 1744966.jpg |
English: Cresswell Pond Nature Reserve Just one of those magical days for birding a crisp November morning and the pond was partly frozen. Were not twitchers but we were enticed by the reports of Bitterns at Cresswell Pond as were other birders and the hide was almost full to overflowing.. We did see two poking their heads above the reeds and one eventually flew across the reeds. Then an Otter appeared and stayed in front of the hide for about 20 minutes and it showed off all its party tricks, tumbling in the water, diving, swimming on its back and then away. Then a Kingfisher flitted in front of the hide for about 15 minutes. In total we saw 32 different species and birding doesnt get much better than the day we had.
A Heron flies off to the right and on the frozen pond are a flock of Golden Plover and Lapwing. |
