Summary[edit]

Description
English: Crickhowell castle Also known as Alisby's castle, the earliest remains date back to C11 or 12. Under Norman control, it was in the hand of Mortimer, Turberville and Pauncefoote before being attacked and damaged beyond repair by Owain Glyndwr in 1403. Over succeeding centuries the fabric was plundered and the bailey was used for other purposes: troops of the Indian army were stationed there during WW2 and it is now a recreation ground.
