Description
English:
Former bishop's residence and chapel, other name Episcopal cottage and chapel. Empire style, built in 1827 ordered by landlord of Makó, bishop of Csanád Diocese, László (Ladislaus) Kőszeghy de Remete. ( Note at this time poultry/goose markets and fairs were held in the square in front of the building. ) Here was the office of bishop. In 1935 it became a boys' boarding school managed by Servite Order In 1950 the building was transformed into a student residence. Later named as Sain Gerard Student Residence. On right side ofthe building is the Our Lady of Sorrows chapel with four Doric columns and tympanum. Listed building (complex). Facade plaques to László (Ladislaus) Kőszeghy de Remete by Károly Fésűs (2003 bronze portrait relief, marble plaque), bishop, canon József Róka by Ilda Fodor (1999 bronze portrait relief, marble plaque), József Lonovics de Krivina, Imre Mihály Horváth. Also there plaque about 'In December 1918, the Mako group of communists was formed within the Social Democratic Party in this building ' - 12 (10-12) Csanád vezér tér Square, Makó, Csongrád-Csanád County, Hungary.
