Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Cwm Badau/Bay of boats, Abercastle 1982 First mentioned in 1566 as a safe harbour within this deeply indented notch which is actually a drowned valley. In the early C19 sloops based here were trading with Bristol and Liverpool and as late as the 1920s local oats and herrings were exported, and coal imported, by sea.
Abercastle is named after the fortified rocky island Ynys y Castell that lies off the coast just to the north. |
