Summary[edit]

Description
English: Cwm Irfon, Powys The former drovers' route through the Elenydd moorlands between Abergwesyn and Tregaron follows the Afon Irfon, then climbs steeply up the Devil's Staircase (25% gradients) before descending to the Afon Tywi. It then climbs steeply again before its next low point where it crosses the headwaters of the Afon Camddwr at the (presently) disconnected phone box near Nantymaen. From there it climbs steeply again through the northern part of the Cwm Berwyn plantation, then down the valley of the same name to Tregaron. Tourists in their cars love this single track route in the summer. In icy winter conditions it can be impassable. After continuous heavy rain there are several spots susceptible to flooding.
