Summary[edit]
DescriptionDAA Building, DAAP, University of Cincinnati, CUF, Cincinnati, OH - 47756635472.jpg |
English: Built in 1958, this Modern building was designed by James E. Allen to house part of the College of Applied Arts, being an addition onto the earlier Alms Memorial Hall, with the college changing its name to the College of Design, Art and Architecture in 1960, and eventually becoming known as the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP). The building is similar in character to the older Alms Building, with a red brick exterior, ribbon windows, simple concrete trim, a large glass-enclosed staircase and multi-story breezeway structure linking the two buildings, and a low-slope roof with overhanging concrete eaves. The building allowed for a major expansion of the college, and has since become linked to the newer Wolfson Center (1976) and Aronoff Center (1996), which allowed for further expansion of the programs. The building today primarily houses offices and studio spaces, as well as a few meeting rooms. |
