Deutsch: Wappen des ehemaligen Amtes Hubbelrath, seit 1975 aufgeteilt zwischen Düsseldorf, Mettmann und Ratingen: „ In Silber (Weiß) über einem grünen gewellten Schildfuß ein rotes, schwarz bewehrtes schreitendes Pferd.“ Am 28. März 1938 verlieh der Oberpräsident der Rheinprovinz dem Amt das Wappen. Zum Amt gehörten die Gemeinden Hubbelrath (heute zu Düsseldorf), Metzkausen (heute zu Mettmann), Homberg-Meiersberg und Hasselbeck-Schwarzbach (beide heute zu Ratingen). Das durch den Heraldiker Wolfgang Pagenstecher geschaffene Wappen stellt charakteristische Merkmale des Amtes dar. Auf hügeligem Boden schreitet ein roter Hengst mit schwarzen Hufen daher. Der "hügelige Boden" soll "redend" das "hubbelige" symbolisieren, das Pferd galt als "wichtigster Gehilfe des Bauern." Das Wappen wird heute noch von dem Ratinger Stadtteil Homberg und von Düsseldorf-Hubbelrath offiziell geführt. English: „Argent, above a terrace base wavy vert an armed sable horse passant gules.“
The arms were granted on March 28, 1938. The horse is a general symbol for the agricultural character of the municipality. The hill in the base is a canting symbol, from hubbelig, or uneven surface. |
