Deutsch: Seit 1936 führt die Gemeinde Barßel ein typisches Segelschiff der friesisch-emsländischen Flussschifffahrt des 16. bis 19. Jahrhunderts in ihrem Gemeindesiegel. Die Farben verweisen auf die frühere politische Zugehörigkeit Barßels: Fürstbistum Münster, dem Barßel von 1400 bis 1803 unterstand (Gold) sowie Herzogtum Oldenburg ab 1803 (Blau und Rot). Rot und Blau sind aber auch die Farben des alten Ostfriesland, dem sich Barßel wegen der Schifffahrt stets besonders verbunden gefühlt hat. Zum Wappen wurde das Schiffsbild durch Ratsbeschluss vom 29. September 1978. |
