Object history
Deutsch: In Billigheim bestand vom 12. Jahrhundert bis 1584 ein Nonnenkloster, das auch die Ortsherrschaft ausübte. Über die Klostervogtei erreichte Kurmainz die Ortsherrschaft. 1803 wurde der Ort leiningisch, 1806 kam er an Baden. Das Siegel des Schultheißenamts zeigt zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts den leiningischen Wappenschild. Wohl seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wird in den Siegeln das heutige Wappen mit dem Mainzer Rad und Krummstab und Kreuz als Hinweis auf das frühere Kloster geführt. 1961 vertauschte man die mainzischen Farben des unteren Feldes, um den Farbverstoß auszumerzen. Nach der Neubildung der Gemeinde durch Zusammenschluss und Eingemeindungen wurden Wappen und Flagge vom Innenministerium am 13. August 1975 neu verliehen.
