Object history
Deutsch: Die Ortsherrschaft über Bollschweil übten seit dem 14. Jahrhundert die Snewlin von Bernlapp aus. Sie besaßen ein festes Haus im Ort und die zwischen Bollschweil und St. Ulrich gelegene, 1379 zerstörte Burg Birchiberg. Am 1. Januar 1974 wurde St. Ulrich nach Bollschweil eingemeindet. Ein Gemeindesiegel ist seit dem ausgehenden 18. Jahrhundert bezeugt. Es zeigt ein doppeltürmiges Gebäude mit Tor. Die Türme sind unmittelbar nebeneinandergesetzt, ihre spitzen Dächer tragen je ein Kreuz. Ähnlich ist das Siegelbild der Präge- und Farbstempel des 19. Jahrhunderts. Eine eindeutige Erklärung ist nicht zu geben. Man könnte an die Darstellung einer Kirche, eines Torgebäudes oder einer Burg denken, wobei auf die Pfarrkirche St. Hilarius oder die beiden Snewlin'schen Burgen angespielt sein könnte. Die Farben des Wappens und die bis heute maßgebliche Wappenzeichnung beruhen auf einem Vorschlag des Generallandesarchivs aus dem Jahre 1900.
