Deutsch: Das am 25. Februar 1924 vom Oberpräsidenten der Rheinprovinz verliehene Wappen erinnert an die frühere Zugehörigkeit zur Grafschaft Moers, welche einen goldenen Schild mit schwarzem Balken als Wappen führte sowie später an die Zugehörigkeit zur Rheinprovinz (ab 1702) durch den Schrägwellenbalken in Grün, welcher auch die Lage am Rhein symbolisiert. Die Mauerkrone bezieht sich auf die beiden Türme des alten Trajekts Ruhrort–Homberg, dem Wahrzeichen der Stadt. |
