Object history
Deutsch: 1930 zeigte das Schultheißenamtssiegel das nicht heraldisch aufgefasste Bild einer Kirche mit zwei Türmen, zwischen deren Kuppeln die württembergische Hirschstange schwebte. Später wurde dieses Siegelbild kurzerhand in eine schildförmige Umrahmung gesetzt, doch kam weder eine Farbenfestlegung noch eine Verleihung zustande. Erst 1965 legte die Gemeinde das jetzige, gleichfalls auf die erste Silbe des Ortsnamens hinweisende Wappen fest. Der Leistenschragen und die Farben sind dem Wappen des Hauses Oettingen entnommen, dessen Glieder einst Gründer und Schirmvögte des Zisterzienserinnenklosters Kirchheim am Ries gewesen sind. Am 2. Juli 1965 wurden das Wappen und die Flagge vom Innenministerium verliehen.
