Description
English: The arms were granted on February 10, 1936. The arms show in the upper part the main sources of income in the district at the time; agriculture, mining, shipping and fishing. The deer in the lower part symbolises the many forests in the district.
Deutsch: Blasonierung: "Über einem grünen Schildfuß, darin ein goldener (gelber) Hirschkopf, in Silber (weiß) ein roter Bergarbeiter mit Helm, Hacke und Lampe. Im oberen rechten Eck über einem roten Anker ein roter Fisch und im linken Eck eine rote Ähre gekreuzt mit einer roten Sense." Das Wappen wurde am 10. Februar 1936 angenommen. Bedeutung: Das Wappen bezieht sich auf die wichtigsten Erwerbszweige des Kreises, dem Bergbau, der Landwirtschaft und der Schiffahrt auf dem Rhein sowie die Natur mit ihren Wäldern (Hirschkopf).
