Object history Krombach war Mittelpunkt eines kleinen Landgerichts. Größeren Besitz hatten dort die Grafen von Rieneck. Nach deren Aussterben 1559 kam der Ort an das Erzstift Mainz. Die Freiherren und späteren Grafen von Schönborn erwarben 1666 das Gericht Krombach. Der Ort wurde zum Mittelpunkt für die schönbornschen Orte im oberen Kahltal. An diese herrschaftlichen Verhältnisse erinnern der Löwe aus dem Wappen der Grafen von Schönborn und die geminderte Teilung von Rot und Gold aus dem Wappen der Grafen von Rieneck. Die Farben Silber und Rot sind die Farben des Kurstaates Mainz.
