Deutsch: Die vordere Schildhälfte nimmt Bezug zum Siegel des Gallscheider Gerichts in den Kurtrierer Farben. Der Löwe in der hinteren Schildhälfte verweist auf die ehemalige Zugehörigkeit zur niederen Grafschaft Katzenelnbogen. Der Schildbord als solcher kennzeichnet das Wappen als das eines Amtes.
English: The arms were granted on January 17, 1973. The right part of the arms show the colours of the Electorate of Trier, to whom some municipalities belonged. The lion is derived from the arms of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen and symbolises the former belonging of some municipalities to the lower county of Katzenelnbogen.
