Summary[edit]

Description .330-CFD-DN-ST-91-05948: Operation Sharp Edge, June 1990 to January 1991. Two flight deck crewmen stand by to remove the tie-down chains from a UH-1N Iroquois helicopter aboard the dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41) during Operation Sharp Edge. The Whidbey Island is part of an amphibious ready group that is in place off the coast of Liberia to provide support for the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, and evacuate civilians caught in that country's civil war, August 24, 1990 JO2 William G. Davis III. (OPA-NARA II-8/14/2015).
