Advertisement for South Tyrolean Ahnenpässe in 1940

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Advertisement for South Tyrolean Ahnenpässe in the context of the South Tyrolean Options in 1940 (Dolomiten newspaper)
  • Ahnenpässe werden im Reich als gesetzlich rechtsgültige Ausweise arischer Abstammung gefordert. Ihren Ahnenpaß macht richtig: Peter Pichler, Bolzano, Via Regina Glena 13/III
English translation: "Ancestry passes are demanded in the Reich as legally valid documents of Aryan descent. Your ancestry pass is correctly made out to: Peter Pichler, Bolzano, Via Regina Glena 13/III."
  • The Ahnenpass (Ahnenpaß, literally, "ancestor pass") documented the Aryan lineage of people "of German blood" in Nazi Germany. It was one of the forms of the Aryan certificate (Ariernachweis) and issued by the "Reich Association of Marriage Registrars in Germany" (Reichsverband der Standesbeamten in Deutschland e. V.).
  • Dolomiten is an Italian local daily newspaper, based in Bozen/Bolzano. It is the oldest and most important German-language newspaper published in South Tyrol, a region where German is spoken by the majority of the inhabitants. The title takes the German name of the local mountain range, the Dolomites.
