The Albino Burmese Python is native to southern and southeastern Asia. This species has established itself quite well in the Florida everglades, due to owners who cannot handle them anymore and are releasing them. Unfortunately, now these snakes are preying on native species in the everglades, making them an invasive species in south Florida. Burmese Python is one of the five largest species of snakes in the world. It is native to a large area of tropical South and Southeast Asia. They are often found near water and are sometimes semi-aquatic, but can also be found in trees. Wild individuals average 3.7 m (12.1 ft) long, but have been known to reach 5.74 m (18.8 ft). |
