Description
English: Monument to Jean-Baptiste Boussingault by Jules Dalou (1895), garden of CNAM, la Plaine Saint-Denis, formerly in the courtyard of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts). Pink marble and bronze daubed with green paint. Height : about 4,50 meters. This monument symbolyzes Science serving Agriculture. The bronze cartouche on which was inscribed the name of the scientist, on the top of the column, is missing.
Français : Monument élevé à la mémoire de Jean-Baptiste Boussingault par Jules Dalou (1895), jardin intérieur du CNAM à la Plaine Saint-Denis, anciennement dans la cour du Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers à Paris. Marbre rose et bronze badigeonné de peinture verte. Hauteur : environ 4,50 mètres. Cette oeuvre symbolise la Science au service de l’Agriculture. Il manque le cartouche en bronze sur lequel était inscrit le nom du chimiste, en haut de la colonne.
