Description

This letter was written by Daniel Roberts to his mother and sisters while he was stationed at Matagorda Island, Texas, with Company K of the 8th Indiana Infantry Regiment. The letter recounts the regiment's movements and actions for the month of November, including the travel from Louisiana to Texas, his experiences on the ship, and the efforts to capture Mustang Island and Fort Esperaza. He also discusses family affairs back home.
