Summary[edit]

Description
English: Mannequin dressed in reconstructed military 16th-century clothing of a warrior serving at the Bergenhus Fortress on display in the Bergenhus Fortress Museum in Bergen, Norway.

A castle soldier circa 1570. Before the 1660s use of uniforms was not common in Denmark-Norway. The feudal lords were ordered to use the king's colors, and an effect of this was the use of red and yellow as main colors. The soldier wears an outfit that is typical for the period at the end of the 16th century, with low-cut jacket and trunk hose in a moderate form. The metal ring collar was part of the equipment, the collar on which the helmet rested. The helmet, ring collar, outfit and weapons are copies.

  • Morion, an open helmet originally from Spain, used from the beginning 16th to early 17th centuries, usually having a flat brim and a crest from front to back
  • Gorget, a steel collar as a single piece of plate armour covering the throat and chest
  • doublet, a man's snug-fitting jacket spread to Western Europe from the late Middle Ages up to the mid-17th century, with openings revealing the fabric in contrasting colour beneath
  • Spontoon, half-pike, a type of European polearm in common use from the mid-17th century to the early 19th century.
etc.

  • Esponton, sponton, kort pik (pike, stikkspyd), stakevåpen
med mer
