Magyar: Kehidai Deák Ferenc (született: Deák Ferenc Antal, Söjtör, 1803. október 17. – Budapest, 1876. január 28.) magyar politikus, jogász, táblabíró, államférfi, országgyűlési képviselő és a Batthyány-kormány igazságügy-minisztere. A reformkorban és a dualizmusban is meghatározó államférfi „a haza bölcse” és „a nemzet prókátora” titulust kapta. — A Wenckheim-házként emlegetett épület – amely nevét a 1798 és 1873 között tulajdonos Wenckheim családról kapta –, több híres embernek is otthona volt: itt élt például Vörösmarty Mihály leánya, Vörösmarty Ilona és férje Széll Kálmán, Wachott Sándor és Petőfi Sándor, valamint ebben a házban halt meg Deák Ferenc, a Haza Bölcse, akit a Széll–Vörösmarty házaspár vett magához betegségében. Deák emlékét tábla is őrzi a mai Egyetem tér 2. számú ház falán, amelyen az egykori épület, mint Hadik-ház szerepel. (A Hadikok mindössze 6 évig, 1873-79 között voltak a ház tulajdonosai.) Az elaggott épületet 1879-ben Gróf Andrássy Manó és fia, Géza vették meg és 1896-ban lebontották. |
