Description |
Nederlands: Het bruidspaar is in het centrum van de compositie afgebeeld. De bruid danst iets links van het midden. Ze is de enige zonder hoofddoek en draagt in haar losse haren een rode haarband. De man met wie ze danst is vermoedelijk niet de bruidegom. Deze is waarschijnlijk iets rechts van het midden weergegeven met een bruine broek, bruin hemd en een donkere mantel die correspondeert met de kleur van de jurk van de bruid. Aan zijn hoed zijn, net zichtbaar, witte nestels vastgemaakt, in de zestiende eeuw een typische bruiloftstooi. Ook de voorste doedelzak is voor de gelegenheid versierd met een nestel.
Vier eiken begrenzen de dansruimte terwijl deze op de voorgrond wordt ingeperkt door een leunende toeschouwer links en doedelzakspelers rechts. Deze laatsten komen in talrijke composities van de 16e eeuw voor en hadden meestal seksuele connotaties net zoals de uitpuilende gulpen van de boeren die lange tijd (uit preutsheid?) overschilderd waren maar bij de laatste restauratie tevoorschijn zijn gekomen. |
