Summary[edit]
DescriptionDecaying cornice, Carn Eige - geograph.org.uk - 1548078.jpg |
English: Decaying cornice, Carn Eige Many of the northern corries of mountains at the head of Loch Mullardoch still had extensive snowfields, but the cornices at the top were decaying and getting too near the edge would have been dangerous. Here on the north ridge of Carn Eige on my descent towards Beinn Fhionnlaidh, there was so little left of the cornice that I could photograph it from firm footing on the rocks. This was in the late afternoon of the second day of a three-day walk around the Loch, with the benefit of being able to leave my camp on the shore of the Loch rather than carry it on my back, as I had on the northern side the previous day and would have to on the third day. A good ploy for a six-Munro day in a remote location. |
