Summary[edit]

Description The water level behind a levee in California’s Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, shown Aug. 16, 2011, is higher than the surrounding land, showing the risk of flooding throughout the region. Under the CALFED Levee Stability Program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is studying how best to quickly fix urgent levee problems while a longer-term plan for reducing flood risk throughout the Delta is developed.
