Description
English: Restored, wooden figurehead, originally from the Norwegian 1851 frigate "Desideria". Photo from the Royal Norwegian Navy Museum in Horten, Norway.
Norsk bokmål: fra «Desideria», en fregatt som ble bygd på Carljohansværns Verft i Horten og sjøsatt i 1851. Utskåret og hvitmalt kvinnefigur i tre, framstilt med krone og septer, som kanskje forestiller enkedronning Desideria av Sverige og Norge (Bernadine Eugenie Désirée Clary). Skulpturen ble restaurert av snekker Nils Holtar som inngikk avtale med Marinemuseet i 1949. Originalhodet til gallionsfiguren henger på veggen sammen med navneskiltet til skipet.
