The 6th and 7th degrees of this form of the scale are raised a semitone from the natural when ascending

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The melodic minor raises the sixth and seventh degrees when going up the scale and returns to the natural minor form when descending. In staff notation, the key signature remains unchanged from its natural form and additional sharps (accidentals) are placed in front of the sixth and seventh degrees. When going back down the scale, "natural" symbols are placed in front of the sixth and seventh degrees to lower them a half-step so the descending form of the melodic minor is the same as the descending form of the natural minor.
