Description

Unter der Regierung Koenig Alberts erbaut. Built 1887-1894 by Konstantin Lipsius. The inscription is on the <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hochschule_f%c3%bcr_Bildende_K%c3%bcnste_Dresden" rel="nofollow">Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste</a> - formerly the Dresdner Kunstakademie - with the glass dome above - glaskuppel - known as the Lemon squeezer, Die Zitronenpresse. Founded in1764 as Allgemeine Kunst-Academie der Malerey, Bildhauer-Kunst, Kupferstecher- und Baukunst, the oldest Hochschule in the city. Since 1991, the parts damaged in the war have been restored. The statue of Fama - Phame - by R. Henze on top of the glass dome has since been gilded Other minor golden figures have been restored to the roof of the main building on the right.. Since 1950 the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden was united with the Staatlichen Hochschule für Werkkunst. When re-opened after DDR times, it became the HfBK.
