Description
It is believed that this self-portrait was done in 1821 and given by Martens to his father. When Johan Lorenz Martens died in 1834, the painting was acquired by Ditlev Martens.

  • Given as a present to Benjamin Dahlerup (descendant of Baroness Ursula Dahlerup) by Bodil Wandel in 1939.
  • Benjamin Dahlerup's descendants until 2023.
  • Auctioned at Bruun-Rasmussen Online on March 5, 2018, but not sold. Lot 1810/5. See "Source".
