Description
English: Double acting stationary engine.

top: Steam in; left: Exhaust

  • (1) hot steam enters chamber right of the piston, the left chamber is connected with the exhaust.
  • (2) slide-valve conceals the right chamber, expansion of the gas begins and moves the piston to the left.
  • (3) hot steam enters chamber left of the piston, the right chamber is connected with the exhaust.
  • (4) slide-valve conceals left the chamber, expansion of the gas begins and moves the piston to the right.
