Summary[edit]
DescriptionDover Priory Station, with SR electric locomotive geograph-2384023-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Dover Priory Station, with SR electric locomotive. View northward, towards Priory Tunnel and the lines to Canterbury and London, Deal and Ramsgate. The locomotive, BR 2,550hp 750v Bo-Bo No. E5000, is at a bay platform, apparently with an electric multiple-unit train. Phase 1 of the Kent Coast Electrification (the ex-London, Chatham & Dover lines east of Gillingham) had just been completed that month, June 1959. These electric locomotives were employed primarily for freight working. |
