Description
English: Dr. F. P. Abbott was a well known dentist in the American community in Berlin. Around 1876, Abbott cared for and mentored an ailing American physics student, Willoughby D. Miller, who was attending the University of Berlin. With Abbott's encouragement, Miller took up dentistry and became a leading dental researcher. Dr. Abbott, together with Dr. Miller, introduced to the dental profession the use of combining tin and gold as a dental filling material. Dr. Abbott was elected to the Office of Vice President of the American Dental Society of Europe, in September, 1878. PH Coll 1526.2
