Description
English:
Downtown Church or Holy Trinity Church Roman Catholic Church. Completed in 1758 in Baroque style. In 1860 extended with two naves and got Neo-Baroque elements. Planned by Miklós Ybl. Above main entry is a relief of the CoA of Károlyi family. The former Art-Nouveau churchyard fence demolished in the 1950s, after its the churchyard cross (1796 works) relocated next to the church wall. Pulpit (János Iznám, 1760) and main altar are Baroque. Main altar statues bought in Vienna World Exhibition 1873, Austria. John of Nepomuk altar painting (1788). Mary altar (1903 or before). Heart of Jesus wooden side altar (1889). Saint Emeric and Saint Stephen statues (János Iznám, 1760s). Stations of the Cross and other sculpture around 1890s. Church organ built in 1826 remodelled in 1941 by Angster Co. (from Pécs). Four bell made in 1927 by László Szlezák, one of theme taken under WWII. Church lenght: 36m. Wide: 27m. Height: 12m (with tower 24m). 18th century gilded hardwooden candle holders. Stained glass windows (1942) by Józef Palka (1860-1952) - 11 Andrássy Road (ex Lenin Road), Hódmezővásárhely, Csongrád-Csanád County, Hungary
