Description
English: The Duchy of Mantua and region, with a close-up view of the Duchy of Guastalla. The House of Gonzagua, which ruled Mantua (until 1708) and Guastalla (until 1746) also ruled until 1746 the small duchies of Bozzolo and Sabbioneta, shown on the main map just northwest of Guastalla. Cropped from a French-language map by Placide de Saint-Hélène centered on the course of the Po River in the vicinity of Mantua. Title: Le cours du Po , dans le Duché de Mantoue. Published in 1703.
The map was published in the early days of the War of the Spanish Succession and show the respective position of French, Spanish and Austrian troops in Mantua, Guastalla, etc. in 1702 and 1703.
