Summary[edit]

Description

This is one of Inverness's finest old buildings known simply as: Dunbar's Hospital, the notice on the wall gives its history:

"Dunbar's Hospital built in 1688 named after Provost Alexander Dunbar who endowed it as a grammar school, weigh house and hospital for the poor under the care of Old High Kirk Session"

The plaque above the arched door depicts the Coat of Arms of the Dunbar family.
