During the archaeological dig of the "Old Ocmulgee Fields" African American men and women from Macon worked with the WPA doing various jobs. These jobs mostly included helping identify and label artifacts that were being discovered at the site but also planting the magnolia & holly trees at the original front entrance where they still remain today.
