Summary[edit]

Description
British English: Enamelled metal badge with leather arm straps, one of which is fitted with a buckle, worn during the Second World War by a group leader of the Dutch civil air-raid defence service known as Luchtbeschermingsdienst (LBD), whose main duties were to protect the residents of a particular neighbourhood area against the dangers of air raids, for example by enforcing the night-time blackout, to provide assistance after a raid, and to report bomb damage and casualties. On the badge are the words: plv. blokhoofd L.B. (i.e. plaatsvervangend blokhoofd luchtbescherming), which is Dutch for 'deputy air-raid warden'. Specifications: Black with white lettering, oval-shaped, 10 cm high.
(plaatsvervangend blokhoofd luchtbescherming). Specificaties: Zwart met witte belettering, ovaalvormig, 10 cm hoog.
