| Description |
English: East Farleigh signal box contains 3 working levers on the left hand side (Wateringbury side), one for the crossing gate release, one home and and one distant signal and 4 levers now out of use. On the right 2 levers control the home and distant signals (towards Maidstone West) and two are out of use.
When Network Rail have the necessary finances these manual level crossing gates will be replaced with automatic gates. Poor visibility of approaching traffic may mean that the signal man is still required to operate them from outside the box, the view of the crossing being poor from inside it. "Temporary" traffic lights either side of the crossing operated from the van on the corner of the carpark give the signalman some protection from the traffic while closing the gates. |
