From the Khalili Collections Description: https://www.khalilicollections.org/collections/hajj-and-the-arts-of-pilgrimage/khalili-collection-islamic-art-panel-from-the-sitarah-of-the-door-of-the-kabah-txt39b/

"This is the second of four main panels that form the sitarah (also known as the burqu‘), or the curtain covering the door of the Ka‘bah. It falls above the panel containing the opening for the door. Its position is reflected in the embroidered text from surah al-Fath (XLVIII), verse 27, ‘Truly did God fulfil the vision for His Messenger: Ye shall enter the Sacred Mosque, if God wills, with minds secure’. The text appears in the same position on sitarahs dating back to at least the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent." [ca. 1500's CE]

The panel was originally made in Cairo, Egypt in the 19th century CE from black silk, and the verse of the Quran is embroidered with silver-gilt wire over a padding of pasteboard and cotton thread.

This version of the image has been cropped to 16:9 ar, edited to display the Quran verse only, and certain quality elements have been enhanced, including white balance, color balance, saturation, contrast, and sharpness. The image has also been extended with a colored mat to facilitate printing and framing.
Date 19th century CE
