Queen Elisabeth Grove Rákóczi Street side. Kopjafa memorial and information bourd about the Grove/Park - The park got its name in 1899. At that time, the grove was planted with Fraxinus excelsior, Fraxinus ornus, Quercus robur trees. 100 years later, the park consists of scrub forest, scrub mixed forest, and parts of trees dotted with clearings. In the western part there is a stage, in the southwest part is an extreme sports field. Local grade nature conservation area since 2011 (Protection ended in 2016?). Before the establishment of the park, the area ran through the former Bárány (Lamb) Creek. Due to the watercourse, the water in the area was mostly always standing. The area was called "Fertő" (~Contagious) at the time, because the swampy conditions favored the spread of disease-spreading pathogens. It was filled in 1894 at the suggestion of former High School principal Gyula Pallagi. -It is a cultural-historical value that the history of the Park was recorded by Zsigmond Móricz in his work "Boiling a wine". András Tőkés, the authentic historian of the city, describes how Moricz himself participated in the planting of the trees of Queen Elisabeth Grove during the 1896 tree planting campaign. - The aggregated data of the tree population survey (around 2010) show that a stand similar to the composition characteristic of the oak-ash-elm Iiget forest plant association can be found in 72.5% of individuals. 1142 trees were recorded. The over 20 pcs are: Fraxinus excelsior 592 pcs /mostly were around 120 years old/, Fraxinus ornus 183 pcs, Quercus robur 136 pcs, Ulmus pumila 90 pcs, Gleditsia triacanthos 55 pcs, Robinia pseudoacacia 35 pcs, Prunus cerasifera 25 pcs, Robinia pseudoacacia 35 pcs. Nesting bird species in the grove (based on survey in around 2010): Turdus philomelos, Dendrocopus major, Turdus merula, Sylvia atricapilta, Sylvia curruca, oriolus oriolus, Parus caeruleus, Parus major, Fringilla coelebs. A ligetet ekkor magas köris, virágos köris, europai szil, kocsányos fákkal ültették be. A park 100 évvel később bozótos erdő, cserjésedett elegyes erdő, tisztásokkal tarkított faállományú részekből áll. Nyugati részén színpad, délnyugati részén extrém sportpálya van. Kisújszállás Város Önkormányzata 18/2011 (III.30) számú rendeletével helyi jelntőségű természtvédelmi területté nyilvánította. 2016-ban megszünt a védettség? A vízfolyás miatt a terüIeten nagyrészt mindig állt a víz. A terület neve akkoriban "Fertő" volt, mivel a mocsaras körülmények kedveztek a betegségeket terjesztő kórokozók terjedésének. Pallagi Gyula egykori Gimnázium igazgató javaslatára töltötték fel 1894-ben. - Kultúrtörténeti érték, hogy a Liget történetét Móricz Zsigmond, "Forr a bor" című művében megörökítette. Tőkés András a város hiteles történet írója leírja, amint Móricz maga is részt vett az Erzsébet királyné Liget faállományának telepítésében az 1896. évi faültetési kampány során. - A fás szárú növényállomány (2010 körüli) felmérésének összesített adataiból látszik, hogy a tölgy-kőris-szil Iigeterdő -növénytársulásra jellemző összetételhez hasonló állomány taláIható az egyedek 72,5%-ában. 1142 db fát jegyeztek fel (20db felettiek): magas köris (Fraxinus excelsior) 592 db /120 év körüliek/, virágos köris (Fraxinus ornus) 183 db, kocsányos tölgy (Quercus robur) 136 db, Turkesztáni szíl (ulmus pumila) 90 db, Gleditsia triacanthos 55 db, Robinia pseudoacacia 35 db, Prunus cerasifera 25 db, Fehér akác (Robinia pseudoacacia) 35 db. Fészkelő madárfajok a ligetben: Turdus philomelos (énekes rigó); Dendrocopus major (nagy fakopáncs); Turdus merula (fekete rigó); Sylvia atricapilta (barátka); Sylvia curruca (kis poszáta); oriolus oriolus (sárgarigó); Parus caeruleus (kék cinege); Parus major (széncinege); Fringilla coelebs (erdei pinty). - Védett madárfajok fordulnak elő téli vendégként vagy vonulási időben: Certhia familiaris (hegyi fakusz), Regulus regulus (sárgafejű királyka), Reulus ignicapillus (tüzesfejű királyka), Dryobates minor (kis fakopáncs), Aegithalos cudatus (őszapó), Asio otus (erdei fulesbagoly).
