Description
English: U.S. Embassy Jakarta actively supports sports diplomacy through a variety of youth programs that aim to build character, promote teamwork, and encourage diversity. On November 29, U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel hosted a talk show at cultural center @america with Erick Thohir and Handy Soetedjo, the first Asian owners of an NBA team, the Philadelphia 76ers, about the positive role sports can play in the lives of young people and how sports can build bridges between our two countries. Erick Thohir also is co-owner of DC United, one of Major League Soccer’s most successful franchises.
