Español: Mecanismo de la deshidratación de un aldol, catalizada por ácidos. Se muestra la deshidratación de un dímero aldólico. Debido al medio ácido, se produce la protonación del oxígeno hidroxílico de (1) para producir el ion oxonio del aldol (2). Una molécula de agua actúa como base, eliminando un hidrógeno-α común a los grupos oxonio y carbonilo. La simultánea eliminación de agua del grupo oxonio conduce a la formación de la cetona α,β-insaturada (3).
English: Acid-catalyzed enol aldol dehydration mechanism. The dehydration of a dimeric aldol is shown. Because of the acidic medium, the protonation of the hydroxilic oxygen atom on (1) is produced, leading to an aldol oxonium cation (2). A water molecule, acting as a base, leads to the elimination of an α-hydrogen atom, common to both the oxonium group and carbonyl group. The simultaneous elimination of a water molecule from the oxonium group leads to the formation of an α,β-unsaturated ketone (3). |
