Summary[edit]
DescriptionEntrance to Hooke Park - geograph.org.uk - 1029969.jpg |
English: Entrance to Hooke Park Acquired by the Architectural Association School of Architecture in 2002, Hooke Park, a 350 acre woodland site, serves as an additional campus for the School, whose main base is in Bedford Square, London. To quote its website "The acquisition of Hooke Park in Dorset provides the Architectural Association with a platform from which it can develop groundbreaking educational programmes. A wide range of disciplines will be used to explore contemporary issues relating to the environment, sustainability, architecture and the craft of construction. A 'laboratory of experimentation and research' will be developed that will make a significant contribution towards the construction of the physical environment on a global scale." Previously the site had been developed by an institute researching new uses for wood in modern construction.
The gateway shown here would seem to reflect well the design orientated use of the site. |
