Summary[edit]

Description
English: Fatehpur Sikri was chosen to be the capital city of emperor Akbar's Mughal empire since the revered Sufi saint Salim Chisti was buried there and Akbar's wish for a male offspring led him to make a 'mannat' at the dargah of Salim Chisti at Fatehpur Sikri. A son Salim, the future emperor Jehangir was born soon and Akbar decided to move his capital from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri as a token of his respect for the Sufi saint.
