Stamps of the Dominican Republic showing Rafael Trujillo and members of his family

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Envelope with stamps picturing strongman Rafael Trujillo, his daughter Angelita and his brother Héctor, at the time figurehead president of the Dominican Republic. The three stamps were among those issued in 1955 to celebrate the 25 years of the Era de Trujillo, as well as the Feria de la paz y confraternidad del mundo libre (Peace and Fraternity of the Free World Fair) that was held in conjunction with the Era de Trujillo celebrations. His 16-year-old daughter, as Angelita the First, was queen of the Feria. The 1953 stamp on the left shows Central Rio Haina, an ultra-modern Trujillo-owned sugar refinery that he created in 1950 to serve as a model sugar refinery.
